![]() 'Tough but fair' makes for enjoyable gameplay but 'tough and pray to rng jesus you don't get screwed over' is simply annoying and judging from the responses online people agree so hopefully this gets addressed. Imagine defending garbage design where there is a significant chance you might be stopped from progressing through the game for literally no fault of your own other than pure randomness because 'you can assess the risk and decide against trying to progress through the game' lmao 10% of the time just violated one of my rules before or simply got too risky when I drilled through the lava when I should have just bombed or skipped. ![]() ![]() Altars also never appear on the first level of the mines. But I'd say 85% of the time its success, and I'm getting better each week. Altars may generate at random in any of the five main areas of the cave, but never in Olmecs Lair, Yamas Throne or in most bonus levels. I go for Vlad nearly every time, and yes, I still do die occassionaly. To trigger this spawn, the spelunker must first free him from his cell in Volcana 2-1, and help him defeat Vlad in Vlads Castle. The Alien Compass is given by Van Horsing in 4-1 of Temple of Anubis, who is found in the backlayer of a certain room. It takes less bombs usually than you'd think because there are often intermediate doorways. The Alien Compass is an item in Spelunky 2. Sometimes supplement this by tossing a few bombs down to make safe hollow points along the shaft.ģ. Most people hastily rush down and risk it. Wait for 1.5 or 2 minutes for most of it to drain. Its okay to go for it, but just know what you are getting into.Ģ. Do you see lava? Do you see an altar? Decide if you are gonna go for it or not. Here is how to severely increase your chances, and stop banging your head off of the exact same issue:ġ. How many times are you going to knowingly drill through lava, and then die from jumping across the shaft when you know lava is likely to fall? This is the important part. But between garbage like this or the bottom of the level getting so flooded with lava there's nowhere left to jump to, it's no longer amusing to restart runs due to pure randomness like this.
